Injectors going bad
Injectors going bad
I have an 06 Mega cab 3500. I have 65k miles on it and I continually have to have it towed to dealers and am having an open short in the injectors. This is happening about once a month! Anyone know of an issues with these? The dealer says it is becaue I am not using "Mopar" fuel filters.
One way to nip that BS is to install a Fleetguard filter. They can't say a word about Fleetguard filters being they are made by Cummins. IIRC all CTD made either after March or April of 2006 must use the newer 7 micron fuel filter and not the old style 10 micron filter. IIR they had a TSB about this but I don't have the number for it.
tired of towing
I think to date this truck has been towed for this problem at least 8 times. Couple more I managed to limp into the shop. I have even tried diferent dealers. I have had a few of these trucks and no problems. I have now replaced all the injectors at least once, on the third turbo, one steering gear, a couple of hoses, an intercooler and an ECM.
