Injectors being rebuilt.
Injectors being rebuilt.
I have decieided to have my injectors sent off for a rebuild. Before I do can any one else think of any other issue that could cause: the hard start if i don't let things prime, haze at idle once warm, white/blue smoke haze at start up and occassional stumble. The only power adder I have is the TST with about 130k on the original harness but the box has been flashed by TST for smother throttle response. Just figured i would check one more time before i let go of some coin on this.
At the show now. They will do some other testing just to make sure but now with the tst on 0 if i goose the go pedel and let off it huffs smoke. He was 99% sure they are shot based on that.
Ok got the truck back. Got to give a shout out to MCS Midwest Performance Diesel in Pacific, MO and Industrial Injection. Great folks! All 6 were bad. They tested all presures on the truck and the pumps came back with a clean bill of health. All the harness where good. Each pistion had a little bit of fuel in them. Industrial confirmed all 6 where out of tolernce and had defective parts. They where all rebuildable thank goodness. Got them back and man what a difference. Truck starts with no problems. No white smoke or haze after warmed up. Truck is quiet. If not for the stacks, you would bairly hear it idle. I had them put 60 hp tips while there doing it but the power is so much smoother and much more throttle response with the TST off. Turn the TST on and hold on. EGT aren't bad either. Maybe 100 to 150 degree gain with my foot in it on 7x7. Well see how it tows this weekend but I think i will be impressed. With the quietness of the truck that might be another symptom of injectors to add to the list. I know it was starting to get at loud as my 99. Not that I really wanted to spend the money right not but I thought it was a good investment now while they could still be rebuilt. Also i will be adding a 2 micron filter kit very soon and it will always have some type of additive. Cheap insurance. Any other questions hit me with a PM.

Eli i wouldn't wait and longer. My friends 04 is having the same thing done right now and he had a few more miles than me and #6 might not be rebuildable from a visual ispections point.

I have used Metro fuel injection in the past with great success. However last month I put 3 rebuilt 460hp N-14 injectors from them in one of my Cummins, it ran worse with them then it did with the leaking injectors I replaced. I pulled them and returned them, they gave me an account credit without any issues. I installed rebuilds directly from Cummins, truck runs like a champ. I was pretty surprised with 3 bad injectors from them, like I said before, they have always been very good, both in parts and service.
I was thinking some flux 1's. Do you recommend something else?
I'm hoping to do it pretty soon, I just have to line up a vehicle to drive for the week the truck will be down.

Not nocking Don M at all but when i called his listed dealers i was told it would take 2 weeks once they shipped it to him. Industrial wasn't that much faster either. Again not nockinging either one great companies imho but wanted to let youe know the amount of time I experienced so you can plan accordinginly.
