Injector Question

I think I may have a bad injector, idle is a little rough right after start up and there is some(not a whole lot) of white smoke that comes out when I start it. Does this sound like an injector? I am just basing the injector thought off of what I have read. The truck is all stock with a new fuel filter and it is still doing it, and it is worst right when I start it. It may fumble a little bit while idleing after warm, but nothing real noticable.

My next question is what kind of injectors should I get. I know, the truck is still under warranty so bring it in, but I am guessing that aftermarket injectors are more reliable, is this correct. I would prefer just to put something in that I can be confident in. What brands to you recomend? I see that DDP has a set of stock replacement injectors for like $387 should I get these, are there any diff between these ? Should I look at going to the 50hp injectors for a stock truck? Does DDP have the full 50hp injector, all I see on the site is the nozzles, I would prefer to get them ready to install, instead of having to find somewhere to get the "pop tested etc." Or should I just get stockers put back in? I may add a box in the future if that makes a difference.

Thanks,

Mitch

After looking at the stock replacement on DDP site, these look like they may be the same thing that is already in the truck, did they do anything to these??
Also, can I do the temperature test on the exhaust manifold to figure out which injector is bad, if you all think a injector may be my problem.

Thanks Again,

Mitch

Take the truck in to the dealer and have them check it out. There is a flash for white smoke at startup. It dosen't sound like you have an injector issue. Just keep an eye on your oil level to ensure it dosen't rise.

It is all stock and still very much in warranty, like I mentioned above, I just want something reliable and like mentioned above, would it be more reliable to get new injectors??? I really don't know the answer, I am new to this (the diesel world) so am looking for input. So, if my oil level never rises (diesel getting into oil) I have nothing to worry about??? Does that happen anytime an ejector is cracked, or just when they are cracked bad. I may be analizing things to much, this is my first diesel, and I just don't want to destroy it and want it to last a long time.

No need to worry. Most people don't have any issues. A few have but that is all you hear on DTR and that can drive you crazy. It has driven me that way before. Don't let all the negativity get you down. If you are worried about it take it in to the dealer and have it checked out. By the way, the only injectors to have are Don M's Flux injectors. Takes good care of his customers.

Is the question are aftermarket injectors better then the factory? If so I think their all factorys except for tips even if reconditioned by someone else.In another words if I had a BAD one (or more)with a truck under warranty and did not want to hot rod my truck I'd let the dealer fix it.If I'm wrong lets here it.

Hound is right! 1st thing to realize is ALL!!! so called aftermarket injectors are simply new nozzles/tips on stock Bosch injector bodies. Will be so for a long time as they still hold the patent on HPCR injectors.

i have 37k on my stock injectors and have been running pressure boxes since day 1.
but i always run powerservice, drain filter at every fill up, only drive the truck when it can fully warm up, have run 7 micron filters since they were available, and now have the 5 in there. NO injector trouble.

Your exactly right. Only the tips are different on modded injectors.

Yes but Don M rebuilds any injector that has ANY damage at all. They are also tested and said they can handle 39K of pressure. I have never heard of a Don M injetor failing and think that they are far superior then the stock injector. Dodgezilla you better find a big piece of wood and start knocking on it!! In my experience it's better safe then sorry. If I were you and had an extra 1200 dollars around I would call up Don.

Quick question if someone went with these tips or nozzles , can you install them yourself at home. Or does the set HAVE to be set in for tip replacments. Thanks
