Injector Differences on HPCR engines
Injector Differences on HPCR engines
Local guy has some injectors advertised:
Full set of six (6) Bosch factory injector nozzles, honed out to 100 HP rating, estimated increase of 300 ft. lb. torque.
IMPROVES FUEL ECONOMY, DEPENDING ON DRIVING STYLE.
Bosch Part # DSLA 143 P 1058
Came out of a 2004 Cummins High Output Engine, will fit all 2003-2004 HPCR engines.
Give me an offer!
Wondering if they will work on my truck since I fear the dreaded '06 injector problems, I want to see if I could put these in and have my stockers checked out.

The computer controls the injection cycles. As raychem stated above, the injector bodies are the same, the nozzles are different. However, it is possible to run the 03-04 injectors in the 04.5 and up engines as no big deal, (other than it would not be optimum, the older nozzles aren't that good and etc) but you do not want to put 04.5 and up nozzles in a 03-04 engine. You would spray outside the piston bowl and that is not a good thing.
Not wanting to start an argument, but I believe our 03/04, 8 hole injector tips have a wider spray angle than the 5 hole tips of the 04.5+ years?
As for the stated reasons of spraying fuel outside the piston bowl and onto the crown, you could not use 03/04 tips in 04.5+ yrs.
I thought that is why Don M was using blank tips for the 03/04 years, so he could design a narrower spray angle to allow us more timing without the risk of melting piston crowns from too much advance timing?
I may have this backasswords, but that is how I understood it.
