Info regarding the 5.9

Hello..

Does anyone know if the last of the 5.9's have been changed at all on the 06 and 07 in regards to emmision controls, egr, etc etc ???

I have a Ford guy telling me it does ... but I have not picked my 07 up yet to actually look.

It does have a cat right?
But, I thought it didnt have any other type of emmision control stuff, not until the 6.7's hit the street...

Any help ????
Thanks in advance!

Tim

The last of the 5.9s in the 1st run 07s do not have the new emission stuff I belive they are the same as the late run 06 5.9.
So buy one now.

My understanding is the same as yours. 07 is the same motor/tranny setup as an 06 until Jan1 (07.5) then you get a 6.7 with emissions equipment. Makes sense since the EPA emissions regulations go into effect Jan 1 as well. Thats why ULSD is about all you can get anymore. I doubt DC would want to produce trucks with new emissions equip any sooner than they have to.

Yes, the 06 and 07 model year 5.9 are exactly the same!! The only difference in them is the tail lights (07 is round) . All of the new emissions stuff will only be on the 6.7 liter Cummins manufactured on or after Jan. 01, 2007 as a model year 07.5.

Your main problem is you have a Ford guy telling you. I suppose he says there isn't a buy back program for the Turd 6.0 either?

All diesels mfg after jan.1 have to have the new emissions stuff per the great, glorious E.P.A

Do a search on 6.7L and you should get hits on that, this has been discussed in detail.

if gassers still had carbs you wouldn't need a degree from MIT to work on one
same goes for oilers there is a point a breaking point where there is a such thing as tooo much of a good thing

it is a crying shame when a 9 year old tuck with alot less "techno" crap on it got twice the fuel milage as an 07 with all of it's infinite wisdom and advance ments
make perfect sence to me burn more to make "less"
why not increase the effiency of a good thing and make it more efficient?

I shall get off of the soap box now.

I know DC is set to release these new trucks Jan 1, but I've heard the fed deadline to meet new emmission requirements has been postponed b/c low sulfur wont be available everywhere by that time, does anyone know more about this?

Don't forget, it's not just "techno" crap- they keep upping the ponies to try and stay one step ahead of each other. (I'd say it's a little of both.)
