So far I've seen two seriously credible reports of new software/flash updates coming for mileage issues. I wouldn't mind getting better mileage but I can't complain too much. I have learned that I have to drive this truck for mileage if I want mileage. If I want to go fast, at which it is very impressive, it costs me mileage fast. That sux because I like to go fast. I would rather be able to get 20mpg at 85 mph than 24 mpg at 65 mph. (I can dream!) Hopefully the rumored new flashes will materialize and will work.

My truck has about 650 miles on it. I ordered it and it was built in May/June. I filled it to the top of the neck at first fill from 1/2 tank, but I doubt the dealer filled it that far, so no reliable hand calc #s yet. The overhead is saying 17mpg after ~160 miles in the city. I have to work to keep it that high, though.

Keep about lousy mileage. It seems to be working.

Sounds just about the same as mine - also a March build. Pulling 10k lbs, I got 8.5 - 10 but I had some serious climbs (1200' to 8400' over 50mi). I hope the rumors of a "mileage flash" are true.

Engine build date: 1-5-04
10,000 miles
City.............12.1mpg
Hwy............13.8mpg
Hand calculated...with a light foot and never over 70mph

DRW-4X4-AUTO-373 (still should get 16 to 17)

Three trips to a dealer complaining of:
1. Poor mpg
2. Excessive clatter
3. Ocassional hesitation or stumble

No luck with any of the above... I want Dodge to trade me into a 305/555 or fix this fuel guzzler.

So, this mileage flash - how much will it REDUCE power, because you know it will. Better milage = less fuel=less power.

My truck was built in May 04 and the engine was built on 12 May 04

I didn't check the MPG for the first two tanks but the computer said it was 13MPG. I put the 5er on at 500 miles and she dropped to 7.5 for the first 1,000 miles traveling at speeds from 70-85 MPH. She stayed at 9 MPG for most the rest of the trip with the best of 10.5 MPG at 70MPH in IN and IL. The MPG dropped back to 9.0 as I climbed westward back to UT. I now have 4200 miles on the truck.

I had calculated every other tank or so but the computer was always right on, kind of unusual i think.

It's a great truck but the MPG just sux (compaired to my 12V). I am really hoping for a fix, this is the wifes truck and she puts most of the miles on running the kids around all day.

Cheers
Ron

I picked up my truck from the dealer on 6-5-04, it had 32 miles showing on it at that time. The truck build date is 01/04, I am unsure of the engine date (don't know where to look, engine data sticker maybe ?). The truck has only been driven on short highway runs (20 to 30 miles) with the majority of miles on rural roads, and very little city driving. It currently has 1150 miles on it .
The overhead averages 13.5 to 13.9 MPG, hand calculated I normally average 14.9 to 15.2 for the 3 tanks I have put through it so far. The truck is exactly as it left the dealer, and has never had a trailer hooked to it yet. The heaviest load it has carried is 5 adults.

My 600 QC 4x4 LB Auto 3.73, stock tires, Engine Build Date 02/02/04 with 4k on it, is getting 12-14mpg city, 18mpg highway(unloaded) @65-70mph hand calculated (17.4 on computer), 16mpg(unloaded) @ 70-75mph. I am very happy with my truck. Hope this helps with comparisons.

We have just over 3000 miles on ours. About half of the miles were pulling a horse trailer. Don't know the build date. Ordered the truck in March and picked it up early-May.

This last weekend we pulled the horses from Atlanta to Boone, NC and back. Averaged right at 13 mpg there (12.9) and back (13.1), almost all highway miles except at the end. Hand calcs agreed with the overhead within .1 mpg. Pretty much averaged 70 mpg except in the mountains. In the mountains it pulled fantastic.

Around town we get around 15 mpg. Haven't taken any highway trips without the horses so I can't comment on that. When I first picked it up it got around 12 mpg, towless.

I drive it to get good gas mileage. My wife, who drives it most......has a lead foot and couldn't care less about mileage.

All in all it's a heck of an improvement over the 2002 Supercrew we used to pull it with. We'd get 8 mpg pulling in that, 15 mpg around town, and 20 on the highway.

Just put an additional 700 miles on mine from a short trip last weekend...80 % hwy running 70 mph with 5 passengers netted me 17 mpg hand calculated. I can't complain about these figures seeing some of the other post on horrible mileage , I'm not sure that I would consider the re flash at this point...it might kill my mileage and or power.
