I change my oil every 5000 miles. Now, when I run synthetic I will change it every 10,000 miles with a filter change at 5000 miles. Of course, with the filter comes 1 qt of fresh oil. My fuel filter changes are at 10,000 miles. I had issues with my 03 if I tried to go longer than that so now it's just a habit. The filters don't cost that much....

Roy, I get my filters at Geno's Garage where I can get 4 oil, 2 fuel and 1 air filter in a box for about 80 and change. Genosgarage.com is where I pick up most of what I need, first because someone told me to go there but since then, I go there cause they have good products and pricing and GREAT customer service. No, I don't work in Cumming, GA.

Also if you have a authorized Cummins service center close to you as I do you can get your filters from them. Fuel, oil, air filters all Fleetguard brand and I have noticed where I buy them they may be a tad cheaper than Geno's, I know they are if you count in the shipping charges. I did use Geno's until I found Southwest International and would probably continue using them if I had not found a local source.

Oil Change-5K
Oil Filter-5K
Fuel Filter-10K
Air Filter-15-20K for me

Thanks guys for your tips and comments. Especially the one about opening up... I have been an avid reader since I got my CTD Dec '04. Thanks to you I will be doing my own maintenance from now on. On a follow up note, are the TSB's cumulative? i.e., Does TSB 18-017-05 include 18-037-04 (which was for the white smoke, etc,)?
Thanks again.

No, they are not cumulative. I've found TSBs at Fritz's site http://dodgeram.info/tsb/index.html good reading when you want to know what's going on with your model year but watch out it doesn't give you the heeby jeebies, just waiting for something to break so you can bring your truck and the TSB to the dealer.
