I have a strange/bad ECM issue.........
Been chasing this for a few weeks here is the deal:
When you start the truck it runs rough like maybe an injector going out but after a 5-10 minute drive and truck is completely warm it runs perfect so a local diesel shop said it needed injectors so new injectors in and still rough when cold, this was done after verifying fuel rail and lift pump pressures good. So I brought the truck home and keep wondering if some kind of ECU deal as once warm the truck runs perfect, what I have found is that when initial startup cylinders 1-2 arn't firing with the temp gun on the exhaust manifold so somehow the ecu is not firing those cold as this year truck has 3 electrical plugs to fire the 1-2, 3-4 and 5-6 injectors. So when the truck was running good I took a temperature of ECU and it was right at 100*, so last night with truck cold and outside temp of 60* I took my heat gun from a distance and heated up the ECU area till it was 100* and started the truck and it ran PERFECT! I disconnected the batteries and am cleaning the 2 connections but no luck still running bad at initial cold start, batteries are good and connections are clean and tight. Thinking I may need to visit the dealer for a ECU? Just a bit nervous with dealers but may be my only option, there is also the crank sensor just in front of the ecu anyone know if the crank sensor may be going south and it may be causing this?
Thanks in advance
