I am such a dork!!
so i pull up behind a buddy, set the parking brake, hook up to his truck, jump in, he pulls a little strain on the line, i hear ready, set.... i flatten the go pedel on the floor in 4 low 3rd gear, the motor comes up to 3500 rpm and hangs there - i here GO! and i dump the clutch and throw 325 horses to the PARKING BRAKE!!!!
so now i have a funny vibration at 70 MPH, what did i bend?
and yea, i got pulled, at lest it was to a 96 12 valve and not a ferd or cheby.

First thing, that is NOT how to pull. As soon as you spin the tires you are done. The goal is to NOT spin them at all. Ease into it and you will do much MUCH better.

I don’t think you would have dumped 325 horses. Don’t these engines defuel/derate themselves until the truck comes up to a certain speed?
That parking brake isn’t enough to hold back these engines. Idling in low range you can stand on the real brakes pretty good and not stall the engine.

The newer manual trucks have a zero-throttle launch capability, so when the ECM detects a load on the engine it fuels regardless of throttle position. I don't know if the CTD will develop rated power that way or not, but I do know that besides overriding the parking brake (and foot brake in stop & go traffic), the engine will accelerate in 6th gear at 25mph with the parking brake mashed to the floor and a heavy foot on the brake pedal.

ok, would a bent u-joint get hot after a couple miles of highway speed? tonight i drove it for a few miles and crawled under it and felt and nothing was hot, not even warm.
tryed to take a stright edge to the drive shaft, but dont have a really good one shortenough to check the shafts with out geting it ont he welds on the ends of them. how do you check too see if the drive shafts are bent?
and what about bending something else, like a axle. how likely is that?
when i took it to the dealer thay told me "its from your tires" : i got the bfg 285's on it, and thay think its them, but its not, the vibration was there befor them, and i have a whitness for that

Best way to check the drive shaft is to take it to a driveline shop. They'll spin it and see whats up.
That parking brake work pretty good. I've tryed to pull my trailer several times with it on!
