Wink Hyper Tech CI-4 Oil & Low Sulphur Diesel

Found it at Wal Mart (15W40). I haven't seen it anywhere else lately. I bought 6 gallons of it. I've seen some folks on here looking for it who don't want to run the CJ-4 low emissions oil.

$8.50 a gallon, or the special deal of $17 for a 2-gallon jug.

With the CI-4 oil and the low-sulphur diesel I'm running I think my truck will be much happier.

Super Tech is the Wal Mart store brand. Not sure where they get it, but it has the proper certifications and looks to be fine.

That is a heck of a deal! Super-tech is made by Pennzoil/Quaker-State. So if it has the correct specs, then its all good.

hmmm - I'd like to get a "real" CI-4 oil to with all the good stuff (zinc and phosphates...)

I am running Valvoline Premium Blue right now, but I'd like to check with a local oil distributor and see if they have the good stuff for offroad equipment. If I wouldn't be so lazy...

I think John Deer oil is still available as a real CI-4 - right?

Google tells me there is no John Deere dealer in San Diego? WTH? 1000000000 taco places and surf shops, but no John Deere?

You can get it at NAPA it is made by Valvoline it is called permiun blue classic it only comes in 5gal. When I get it I order 10gal at a time that way they give me a brake. You can go to Valvoline web site and look it up and see the part #591838 They have a new oil called the Extreme But I like the Classic for it was made for 07 back . has more wear protection

I'm not sure what additive package this stuff has, but it carries the proper CI-4 spec, so I assume it will work fine in the Cummins. It also says it's made for "farm applications", so it may cover the "off road" additive package you're looking for too. I'm going to keep buying it and stock up unless someone tells me it's bad for my truck. Chemical engineering wasn't my strong suit, so I'm not qualified to do anything but look at the CI-4 rating and the price tag.

I tried to get it a while ago - but the treehuggers here in Cali made sure it's not available anymore... (I checked NAPA, etc. they are not allowed to sell it anymore)

So thanks Mr. Greenpeace-hybrid-treehugger-cali-hippie, now I have to burn more diesel to get to a place to buy "the right oil"... (and I will let my truck idle for 5min as soon I get there, just to let it cool-down)...

Have no idea, better formulation I guess that CI4. If you look at the packaging on the website, already says CI4+ but the oil on the shelves is still CI4.

This Super Tech stuff is API Service CI-4, CH-4, CG-4, CF-4, CF/SL, SJ rated.

It says:

"Engineered for fleet and farm requirements" and "Designed for use in diesel and gasoline engines where SAE 15W40 oils meeting API CI-4/SL are recommended. Especially suitable for use in heavy-duty over-the-road diesel engines and gasoline engines as well as farm and construction equipment subjected to severe use in varying climate conditions."

"Suitable for use in turbocharged and low-emission diesel engines. Helps keep engines clean and cool-running and provides excellent soot dispersancy."

Manufactured in USA for Wal-Mart Stores.

Hope that helps you California guys looking for CI-4. Maybe I should start buying this stuff bulk and shipping (smuggling?) it to California.

Did I mention that I can still buy "low sulphur" diesel here too?

OK - I'll stop rubbing it in. It will be 110 degrees here soon and I'll be jealous of your weather.

Cool

Yes - I probably need to go full synth in order to treat my truck with good oil.
I tried to not go synth, but I guess there is no other option in Cali... I have 30k miles on the truck, so it's broken in and ready for synth, right?

I bought some Mobil One from Walmart and it said CI4Plus all over the jug. Then I finally saw that it also said CJ 4 in the small print which means it is the new formula.
