How much HP/Torque can the 47RE handle reliably?

Hi all,
I want to add a little HP to the truck but worry about the 47RE. This truck takes me back and forth to work during the week, across town, stop light to stop light...you get the picture. I have a lead foot everywhere I go, so very hard on the tranny as it is.
I want a little more pep between stop lights since that is where I tend to spend the majority of my time. If I add anything, it will be an Edge EZ. I do not want to spend cash on tranny work, so if any is needed, I’ll leave as is. Has anyone figured out just how much the 47RE can handle reliably? Any and all advice is welcome!

If you have a lead foot then you may want to leave the truck alone. Once you install that EZ box it will be twice as bad when you feel the power that the truck makes. I think the general consensus is that the trans is at it's limits with the EZ box and driving aggressively will probably cause tranny/TC problems. I for one am trying to drive as unoffensively as I can, but it is hard....
I had my EZ on for 4 days or so and I could not stay off the pedal. Man, what a difference. Of course, in that time I didn't feel any ill effects.
Took it off cuz I'm trading in my truck (if all goes well) to get a 6 spd.

During the week when I'm just going back and forth to work, I usually drive with the overdrive off since I rarely get above 45mph. Think that would help my 47RE live a long and happy life with an Edge EZ?
Well, in my opinion, the problems with these transmissions are due to the awesome amount of torque that the diesels engines make. When you stomp on the pedal from a stop, it's really shocking the converter and trans. In addition, everytime the trans shifts at WOT, that's doing the same thing only not at the same level as starting out from a stop. The torque converter seems to be the most common failure and I don't know why DC just doesn't get a better unit to put in these trucks. Driving in 3rd gear versus OD may help a little as I've seen posts before where people say to ease into "lockup" because it puts alot of stress on the converter when it locks up..
This is just my opinion and as I said previously, I try to drive nicely, which is hard, but if my trans starts to go I'm gonna try like heck to break it all the way so I can get a 48RE replacement.
Have you ever heard the term "Neutral Drop??????"
