How Much Fluid for 6 Speed Transmission

My truck is about to hit 60,000 miles. Along with changing the oil and the rear differential fluid, I thought I'd go ahead and change the fluid in my 6 speed as well.

I've heard that Penzoil Synchomesh is the thing to use, so I guess I'll do that. My question is, how many quarts does it take?

Other things I thought I'd do:

- Change serpentine belt ($50 for that stupid belt from Geno's!!!)
- Have brakes checked (need new tires any way I'll get them to check brakes while they're at it)
- Replace shocks (while changing tires)

Anything else I should do since I'm at 60K miles?

9.5 pints for the NV. I think I read that the factory fluid is rebadged (and repriced) Syncromesh, and is probably fine. I went Redline MTL with good results, but there are many choices.

I'd probably spend the extra time to pull one of the PTO plates off so you can reach in and pull the magnet to clean it off. Also, quite a bit of old oil will sit in the bottom. Black RTV, and thread sealant on bolts...

Not a bad idea to change the belt so you will have a spare.

If you wanted to, it probably wouldn't hurt anything to replace the brake fluid and also the power steering fluid...

The NV5600 has a provision on either side to attach a SAE standard PTO, and if not utilized there is a cover plate there. Rectangular, with 6 bolts.

I guess I should have said PTO cover plate...
