How many

Just got out from under my rig with the grease gun in hand. Am I missing something or are there only TWO grease nipples on the whole truck at the outer tie rod ends? All ball joints and universals appear sealed(bone head designers) . I have a needle grease point that I have used on the wifes VW for those sealed units. My question is would you guys recommend stabbing the rubber seals and giving it a pump or two. My baby has 4000 miles on her and won't see a dealer's shop as long as these two hands keep working.

I have a 4X2 2500 Quad cab. It doesn't have ANY fittings on it! Frankly, if it's designed without fittings, I wouldn't sweat it.

Yep, there's only two zerks under there. I give them a squirt at each oil change. I wouldn't worry about it either if there's no zerks.

Yeah well I would worry chief with the weight of a 359 cu. in. cummins diesel engine sitting on ball joints with no bloody grease zerts. When I gave the tie rod ends a pump a squirt of water game out of the boot seal. Remember that grease not only lubes but protects the parts from water and contamination. The point is this is a 3/4 ton heavy-duty truck and should have zerts at all universals and ball joints. I can surely see replacing parts way too early because of no grease.

Whats the point of worrying? Worrying about it ain't gonna make any difference in their lifespan. LIfe is too short to be worried such trivial things.

When they go bad, see if they're covered under warranty (oh, pardon me, I forgot the dealer will never touch your truck), or replace them yourself with parts that have zerks. Continue on with more important things in life.

Don't worry, be happy.
