In my 05 is there any way to clear the codes without going to the dealer or buying a code reader

 

Yup, if the condition that set the code is not present any more, some codes will clear themselves after a number of driving cycles. I don't remember how many cycles but normally in two days or so they went away for me. You can also go to your local auto parts stores (big chains) and they will sometimes let you use their scan tool to erase codes.

 

Autozone will read and clear them for you.
