How common would you say injector problems are?

Just taking kind of an informal survey. How common are injector problems on these 3rd gen trucks? More specifically the 5.9's from 2006 and newer? I did a search on here and had over 400+ threads on injector related problems in the 3rd gen Engine forum alone. A buddy of mine says its extremely rare. I tend to disagree! Thanks!

Considering the 3rd has to fire more times per event that the older 12's & 24's. I would say time is against them, not to mention the increased pressures involved. I would have to agree with you..

Hard to say.

I had 406,000 on the first set.

I have 200,000 on this set. Still working fine.

I run some gray diesel from power service every once in a while. Rarely use additive even in the winter unless below minus 10 F.

I had one replaced on my 2007 at 19,000 miles. Typical white smoke puff and rough idle once in a while. Now I have fuel in my oil at 100,000 miles so truck goes in to have them all pulled and tested. From what I have read its pretty regular occurance.

Had all 6 replaced with around 25000 miles, and then one replaced at 65000, have 85000 miles now and the traits of injector issues are coming back again. Doesnt seem to make a difference if I run additives or not, fuel filter is drained (never had any water in it at all) on reg intervals and changed according to owners manual recs.

2, about 1000 miles apart back around 42k. I think they misdiagnosed which one was the culprit. Cost me 4 oil changes, they only comped 1.

I had just changed the oil about a week prior, they covered replacing the oil, I then changed the oil after 500 miles again to be safe. At about 1000 miles after the first injector was replaced I noticed fuel in the oil again, they wouldn't cover the oil this time and I had to change after another 500 miles to be safe again.

Thankfully I had 14 free oil changes as part of the purchase agreement, but that means I wasted 4 free oil changes.

I'm currently at 62k and he'll turn 5 on 07/05/11. Guess I'll be learnin' how to do them myself. I ain't payin' the dealer $1200.00...

I have had the 2 micron filter and Baldwin 5 micron on since practically new. Both changed every 5,000 on the dot! I guess some are just lucky and others not so much. LOL

78K here with the stockers. I have a 2 mic set up, & change them @ 6K miles. Run TNT on SW9 for most of it too.

If you have proper filtration and water seperation and/or a good fresh fuel source they can last a while but by design they are prone to failure. They have gotten better over the years though.

Lost 2 so far on my 2007, first one went at 53K and the second one died around 58K.

My old 01 power stroker which I handed down to my son has about 250K on the original sticks and still rolling.. go figure. You wouldnt believe how much crap I have to hear about it too!

92k miles on my truck, all stock. It's a daily driver till temperatures get above 40*F then I take the bike.
I did use some power service once I kept thinking about the stuff being snake oil and never used it again. So far so good.
