High idle kicks on when truck is running hotter than normal??

Hello guys

having fixed many issues on my CR recently. Today i towed with it, lightly since the first time it was fixed, a 2000 lb trailer and 500 lbs of branches to the city dump, as per the scales, a total of 2500 lbs...

truck performed flawlessly for the most part, and never got above about two needlewidths from the halfway mark (over it)... i let it idle while i worked at the dump to remove branches, and then got back en route to grocery store a mile from home.. (about a 25 mile round trip) truck was on since 8:00 this morning and was not shut off till 10:30 when i made it to grocery store...

however when i got to the grocery store to pick up some stuff, the temperature rose slightly on the truck, and what i think is the "high idle" came on and the truck idled at 1000 rpms for a minute or so.. then it went back to the normal 750 rpms

I popped the hood immediately while the truck was at 1000 rpms thinking oh crap, its the FC again.. but the fan was whirring away HARD... it was blowing hot air towards the engine but it was blowing air nonetheless.... i closed the hood right away wondering if that was normal operation..

No check engine light came on, so I ASSUMED that that is normal operation of the FC.... i did not cycle the ignition for codes, instead i let the truck cool down a little bit after it got to normal rpms.., (about five minutes) temperature dropped to about half on the gauge, and then i shut the AC off, and then the truck...

I was running the AC on the second setting on the fan speed, and the coldest on the temperature ****....

and for what its worth, the temperature outside was 88 degrees with high humidity and no wind or breeze...

is any of this normal or should i be concerned?

thanks in advance!

Rick

Wait till the truck is cool and pop the radiator cap off to check the fluid level just to be safe. You may be low on coolant.

normal ac on high humidity = fan engaging to cool condenser.
