HELP truck dieing randomly

Got a new one here, 2003 cummins, will randomly and seems to be getting worse, die while idleing. Is starting to be a real ***** to restart and when does, a lot of time will run and then die again. Scanned for codes and found P0628, lift pump ckt voltage low. Vehicle is stilll under warranty but dealer is long ways away and am looking for some kind of explanation. Any help is appreciated.

That's a lift pump, buddy. That truck ain't goin no where on it's own till you get a new one...

Unless... you clamp a piece of hose to the line coming from the tank that goes into the filter bowl, and hook it straight to the line that goes to the CP3... I would not run it long like that, just if you had to...

So is lift pump failure as common with the 2003 and newer cummins as with the 2nd gen 24 valvers, or is this just a fluke?

The issue is only with the 03' to 04.5 trucks. In 05' they went with the in tank LP. If your truck is under 100,000 miles and an inservice date between 1-5 years you can get it repaired under the engine warranty for free. Year 6 and 7 there is a $100.00 deductable. It's not like the VP44 trucks. The CP3 will not be harmed from the bad LP.

Edited: By the way mine dumped at 23,000 miles. Lucky me.

Highly suggest to upgrade at this point! The in tank pumps have performed well, but if you plan on many mods an aftermarket pump may better suit your needs.
