HELP HELP HELP.....truck wont start!

Got in the truck this morning and when I fired up the truck it ran for about 2 seconds and died. Tried to restart it and it just turned over like it was out of fuel. After a few cycles it started and ran for 1-2 seconds and quit again. One thing I noticed after doing this 3 or 4 times was when I turn the key on the red light does not come on. But when I try and start the truck it does come on.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think the '05s used them but your key isn't the one with the little chip inside it is it? Neighbors '06 did that a couple years back and after days of fooling with it we used the spare key and everything was hunky dory after that.

Make sure your lift pump is working. It should run for 2 to 3 seconds after the key is turned on, or if you bump the starter it should run 25 to 30 seconds. A pressure gauge is best to check the pump but you can put a container on the fuel filter drain and open the drain valve and bump the starter, do not start. You should get about 1 quart of fuel if the pump is working properly.
