Heating up under WOT

Have any of you guys experienced your water temp rising a little under wot, towing or on grades. I see that mine heats to a little over 200 degrees, but immediatly comes down when I let off. When normal driving it never moves. It has done this since I bought it. I have chalked it up to heat from the turbo which heats things up a little. Thanks for any imput!

I have. I was towing about 13K in the Davis Mountains and if I could see the temp increase at WOT climbing. I just installed the Quad Commander so I tell more about what is going on.

well torkmnstr, you are running larger tires, pulling a grade, burning large amounts of fuel with quite high cylinder pressure(boost related) which increases cylinder temp, and something has to absorb all that heat. slightly over 200* is nothing. keep on going.

X2.

What you describe is exactly what I see too. Perfectly normal; no worries.

Wheeew! I am glad to hear this. I have been experiencing this also and was starting to get concerned as now I have a 12K# toy hauler. Any issues pulling a grade and having it sit at that just over 200* mark?

Is there a point I should back off time period wise. Seems like I go from 190 to about ~210 pretty regularly when towing and hitting various grades.

Also, new to diesels. Is it ok to add redline water wetter or purple ice to the coolant in diesels? are they compatible?
