heater grid block removal for better air flow

would removing the heater block under the intake manifold elbow thingy give me better airflow out of the intercooler to make a difference? I live in Houston so don't really need the heater IMO, or would this not be a good idea. I have seen some aftermarket intakes and heard they really dont offer any advantage. The CFM+ ones do look really trick in carbon fiber, though!

Not worth it. you'd have check engine light on too.

Uhh...
You wont wont throw any codes.
My truck does not have the intake grid heater installed at the moment.

Check out www.powerbypoole.com Thats where I bought my "power block"
Its an aluminum CNC piece that takes the place of the grid heater unit and provides unrestricted flow.

I just taped up the grid heater leads with electrical tape and was good to go!!

My bad, never tried it.

Learn somethin new everyday.

Did you notice any benefit or did you do that in conjunction with other mods?

Hard to tell. I am sure it helped get rid of the restriction.
I did all the mods at the same time so I really cant put my finger on it.
But for 60 bucks heck its one of the cheapest mods out there.

You're right. For 60 bucks you really cant go wrong AND it looks pretty trick! With this plus the carbon fiber manifold, I will have to rig up an underhood camera so I can see it while I drive!

Yeah, but what if you live in an area where it actually gets COLD? Do you swap it back in, or do you not have issues?

Well if it gets cold where you live (like Indiana) then its time to put the grid heater back in.
I mainly have it out for sledpulling season, so winter time its going back in.
