heater temperature control

I have the dual climate control and my driver side doesn't get hot like the passenger side does. The blend door is working, but I'm not sure if the mode door is working for sure,it switches from floor to vent and so forth but not sure if it's 100%.Any ideas as to why my driver's side is only luke warm?

The dual zone set up has 2 pairs of blend doors. From what you describe, I'd guess that one for the driver's side has broken.

Lots of people with blend door problems. My feet are still freezing from driving to work this AM. Havn't heard of a good easy fix yet but still looking.

I kind of assumed you meant that you could see the actuator moving ok, but that inside the blend door may be broken from its pivot, or the coupler thing may be stripped.

I bet that's what happened, then...

Have you seen this thread? The guy really did a nice job taking photos, and his write up would be really helpful.

The dealer diaged it as a broken blend door on the drivers side, but I don't know how it could still blow cold air when the switch was in the cold position and blow warm air when it was in the hot position. It makes me think that maybe something is in the way.Any ideas or is the dealer right? I can either spend $700 or take a day to rip out my dash.

Chrylser has one of the biggest POS climate control blend doors EVER! My '03 CTD blend door broke and my wife's 02 Grand Cherokee blend door broke. I replaced them both. Not too bad, just time consuming is all. Now, I have owned @ 20 vehicles in my lifetime from all of the Big Three, and I have never had a blend door break except on the only Chrylser/Dodge/Jeep vehicles I have owned (the 2 mentioned above) Coincidence? Nah, I hear of way too many people having the same problems, and not too mention when I strolled down to my local Dodge dealer, walk into the Parts Dept, explain my problem, and the parts guy laughs and says, "blend door" That about sums it up. Good luck. I would go ahead and tackle it if Iwere you. As long as you have a pretty good knowledge of working on vehicles, everything is pretty straight forward. Good luck

If the driver's side doesn't get hot (or as hot) when set on Hot, a broken blend door that still sends most of the air for the driver's side around the heater core would make sense to me, but I suppose the only way to know for sure would be to pull the dash and the HVAC.

Other than having someone evacuate the AC system, it doesn't look like it would be that complicated for a decent home mechanic to do it with common hand tools...

It will still get cold when set to cold, so I'm not sure that the door is completely broke. It doesn't just stay warm .

Yeah, sometimes they do not break completely. In my case, sometimes I could get mine to work. And then, nothing! It was an ongoing frustrating battle, and finally just said to heck with it, and bought the parts and yanked the dash and fixed it. So, yes I am not surprised that it is not broken entirely. A gear could be stripped and allowing it to turn one way but not the other. IN other words, it's a piece of crap that needs to be replaced

After reading this post I realize that my mode has a stipped end on that the servo connects too.

I think my driver blend gear has a missing tooth b/c it goes all the way in one direction but only about 95% the other way.

Would not surprise me one bit. As I mentioned before, these things leave something to be desired.
