I know in my 2nd gen, the general concensus was that you could add about 50 hp without having to worry about putting too much strain on the trans. Now, in the 03s which are making 40 more HP, does that still hold true or is the trans at the maximum capability? Of course I'm always thinking about adding an EZ box but I don't want to do it if the trans can't handle it..

 

I believe the only enhancements for the 03 were electrronic upgrades only for more precise shifting. Mine shifts nice, no problems with 13k on the clock knocking head against wooden bookcase<<<<

 

Story goes that the 47re is a new tranny. Special for the beefier HO motor. Time will tell.

 

uhh the 47re in the first 03's were the same just a few electronic changes. the *48* RE is a new tranny all together. well it is a lot better built than the 47 slush box.

But does anyone know if the 48RE can handle any additional power, what it's safe limits are ect?
