Grid heater activation want more
I use both WMO & WVO... The last couple of batches have about 50/50 WMO/WVO mixed at 50% with #2. The truck likes dino WMO the best, but I usually get a mix of syn & dino WMO. I've been staying away from WVO since it tends to smoke more & makes for a thiker fuel at same temps.
I guess I didn't think that it was that much since I know of a few a SVO conversion and read of others running the Diesel Secret blending for a while (20K+)
I been working with difference concentration for a while now & from what I can tell is it depends on the WMO & WVO type and the outside temp for what blend the truck seems to like better.
I know that Cummins states 5% and the OTR setups with the Sentry system can do up to 20%. I'm assuming the lower amounts is what Cummins states to so that they don't get in trouble with the EPA.
What percentage is consider not to much from others that have ran blended fuels? Is there any other 3rd Gens out there doing this? Its tough to find any here on this forum to talk with about their experiences. If you happen to know of any I would like to get together and discuss these topics.

I don't think there are too many folks in 3rd gens running it because of the pricey and picky HPCR system.
I have talked to many offgrid guys who do the WMO and WVO in there diesel generators and most of the add a small amount of RUG to the mix to thin and raise the flash point. Just a thought........
FWIW
There may be bit of confusion on flash point. The flash point of a flammable liquid is the lowest temperature at which it can form an ignitable mixture in air. The autoignition temperature is where it will ignite on its own. Diesel has a flash point of 140*F and an "autoignition" of 410*F which is achieved by compression in the cylinder

I do use a 5% RUG added to the mix. So mix is 50/50 WMO(wvo)/#2 + 5% Rug and the recommend amount of Diesel Klein.
I do think that Rpainter may be right about an injector going south. After work she started up with a black puff of smoke and a rough idle for about 5 seconds and then smoothed out. She sounded and felt like I had a non firing cylinder. After the 5 seconds she purred like a kitten and didn't have a problem the rest of the evening.
I'll have to finish off the rest of this tank (its just below 1/2 tank now) and fill up with 100% #2 and drive for about 200 miles before I call the *********** to have them do an injector leak down test. I've also turned the X2 to off for the time being until I can take it all out.

We'll guys I just got it back from the dealership. They said everything is fine. They did an injector kill test according to the paperwork.
Does anyone know if the injector kill test will also so how much leak back the injectors have?
BTW I'm no running straight #2 without the X2 and no roteck sensor. Still having grayish smoke on startup after sitting a while and a light hase at idle after engine being warm.

Well, it think it have it all figured out. I've got the X2 back on and running straight #2 with PS at a higher than recommended concentrations. From I can tell is that the smoke was from coking of the injector from not working the truck very hard for long with the fuel mix I was running.
Right now light black smoke is still at startup, but nothing to even worry about. I'll run this tank out & back to making business as usual.
