Greasing Wheel Unit Bearing

Has anyone else done this? I know it is sealed, but if you took the ABS sensor out could you pump the housing full of grease then?

I am trying to figure out a way to make these Unit Bearings last longer..

Thanks ahead of time for any info.

how long do you expect them to last? 200,000 miles?

Unit bearings are a design flaw waiting to break, especially if you put different backspaced wheels and heaver tires on.

I replaced the ones from past 3 trucks at 190,000 miles, I cannot complain.

I did mine when they were replaced, and once a year after if they look to be drying out. 1st set wore out around 50K miles. 80K now.

I pack sealed u-joints before I install them too. Factory gease always seem to be a bit lacking.

well, 200,000 would be nice since I am only getting about 35-40,000 out of mine..

I do have a slightly larger tire, but nothing overly large. 33-12.50-18

I ws just asking because if it works, then I can save $250 per bearing by spending 30 mins greasing the two of them when changing the oil..

I've heard of people greasing them through the speed sensor hole.

I got a Napa lifetime warranty set, in case they do die. That way I don't have to pony up any more money. I'll still have to do the labor, but that won't be that big of a deal now that it's all slathered in anti-seize.
