Greasing the front fitting.

I know there have been a lot of threads on this but I just want to make sure I did this correctly.
I did my 1st oil change yesterday, which by the way is not all that hard, other than I forgot to take someones advice that said you cant use one of those 15 qt pans with the drain in the middle. The oil comes out faster than it can go into the pan.
I then went to grease the front driveshaft cardan fitting, and that is where I have questions..
The only fitting I could find is a small 1/4in flat spot on the back of one of the U-joints in the cardan assembly. I was able to get just the tip of the fitting into the joint, and I pumped it with grease until I started feeling pressure on the grease gun. It took about 20 pumps with a standard size grease gun. I didn't see grease coming out anywhere in the joint, but I know it went somewhere. I used a Lincoln needle grease fitting that is about 1/8 in or less with a very fine tip. Only a very small part of the tip would fit in the fitting.
Did I do this correctly ?
There are also cardan joints and carrier bearings in the rear driveline, do I need to grease tham ?

Take a look in my photos. I have a picture of the lube point on the front drive shaft. That little stinker gave me fits for almost 2 days before I found it. I also have a photo of the grease gun adaptor that worked really well for me.

I'd say I did around 20 pumps and didn't see anything either. Like, you I figure the grease went somewhere.
