Give me your opinion of Rhino Liner.....
Why don,t ya just add some crome or stainless rocker panels and use POR 15 on the parts you do not see? Or undercoating?
My Dad has an 86 F-150 that I had to replace the whole body on it and while it was off I sanded the frame and used some spray on undercoating from Wallyworld, still on there and he uses it for going up the mountains and strip mines around here.
I was planing on doing this to my truck this fall, the underside of it.

I was like "not even if I take the rear bumper off first and put back on myself"
. He said NO!
So I'll be looking for a different LineX dealer to do my rockers.Don't have much experience with Rhino, but LineX is the STUFF, even if I do have to find a different dealer to spray the rockers..
i had a rhino liner bedliner in my 07 hemi 4x4 before i sold the truck but i loved it. nothing in the bed moved around. it looked great and performed great. iam going to put another one in my 07 ctd. my truck was black also.. good luck with your project.
every rhino liner I know of has flaked off or is easy to tear up. line x has agreed to fix my liner here soon. their applicator was very poor. they said they will make it right on my truck. I dont reccomend a rhino liner at all
I've had both Rhino and Line-x and I would never have Rhino again. Go with line-x or a new type called Onyx. I had my ranch hand front bumper sprayed with Onyx and it's the best $250 I've spent in a long time. I hate my Rhino bed liner. It's just not very durable and looks like crap.
Stay away from brands like rhino, which are made from polyurethane. Polyurethane attracts moisture. Line-x is a polyurethane blend if im not mistaken, so its a far better option. But still not the best.
A company called SPI makes a product called Full Metal Jacket. It is made from 100% polyurea which repels moisture. It is mostly used for industrial applications. Its overkill, but isn't that a good thing? Also the prices are very similar to other spray on liners also.
Just an opinion

I've had both rhino and line-x and hands down line-x is better. The only thing rhino is better at is keeping stuff from sliding. IMO rhino is to soft to put on the rockers. It would be chipped up in no time from normal driving.
I'm supposed to have the Rhino done in two days! Has anyone heard of Toff liners? Are they any better? It's about the same price as Rhino (a little less). Line X is more expensive. Which one would be the best?
Pauly,
I have been recently looking into doing my rockers as well. The product that you want is by Line-X called Xtra. It has kevlar and UV inhibitors in it, so it will not fade or chalk. This new liner material gives Line-X the ability to color match any color and with yours being black they would not have to add any color to it. My bed was done over the rail with regular Line-X and so far I have been really happy with the product. I asked the Line-X dealer if he could do the rockers as well and he had little experience in doing them, so I just left it at that. I recently contacted the next closest Line-X dealer in Grand Junction (4 hour drive) and he does the Line-X Xtra and can do the rockers to the tune of $700
. Apparently it is an 8 hour job (roughly 30 minutes in actually spraying it on but 7.5 hour in prep work. The price is high because he can only do one rocker job per day as apposed to 4 beds in a day. The price he quoted me also included re-shooting the bed with the new Line-X Xtra.

Dave,
The Line-X guys in Grand Junction are "Top Notch" I did my research prior to having mine done and Frank at GJ Line-X knows his stuff. there is some real horror stories out there about the competition in other cities. Well worth the 2 hr drive for me to get it done right the first time! I watched the entire process, believe me those guys are dedicated to putting out quality work! I had the inside of my tool chest lined as well. Also did the floor panels on my forklift.

whats worked for me
I have my rockers sprayed with a liner called "SPEED LINER" its worked great and it has always been made to match the color of my truck. It also has awesome UV protection so it wont fade. In my experience with bed liners the first one i ever had done was rhino and that was the last time i will ever have their liner on my truck. After a few months in the good old hot Texas sun it always fades to a charcoal color which sucks on a black truck. On my current truck which is black i have my rockers and my tow mirrors sprayed ( had the mirrors done to protect them from another rock) I also am having the roof done since it is the most neglected paint and gets scratched to hell going under trees. On my last truck i still see it around and had the rockers done on it ( which was the bright red in 01 ) and the liner hasn't faded a bit. my friends truck on the other hand he had a "RED" rhino line put on that is now PINK, he paints it once a month to try and hide it but without having it redone hes fighting a losing battle. So thats what i think as far as liners go, good luck and which ever way you go i hope it doesnt fade out on you.
