My early '04 has a cat!
I have an '04 dually with the Cali. SO motor, and it came with the cat. When I straight piped it I had them leave the cat in to cover my butt as I also have a ' 99 Ford Superduty which came with a cat, and had to leave it in as well when I straight piped it.
ON another note there are only 2 counties here in Nevada where they smog diesels(of course I live in 1 of them) or otherwise I would not have kept my cat.

Hey ramdez where you from? I live in nesquehoning next town up from jim thorpe. There is a little garage in town here that does my inspection. I have stacks with no muffler. I was turned down by another garage before but this guy is kool, he has an excursion with a chip and is into diesels himself.

Just for reference I have an 03 and there never is/was a cat on it from factory. Just muffler.
HAHA nesqy thats awesome, actually I'm in Lehighton born and raised. I may have to get the addy of this place. I used to have a jeep and would take it to a place out in Mahoning valley, the guy didn't care that my driver door wouldn't close but boy did he not like that I didn't have mudflaps on my 32's. Heh. I'll send ya a PM
