Gen III waterpump

Does anyone know if the waterpump is covered under warranty 7/70 DC or 7/100 Cummins for leaking? My 2003 has recently started leaking. The truck just turned 69K miles.

Covered. dodge will likely pull the "internally lubricated" crap with you. tell them its got sealed bearings so its internally lubed..
or cummins will honor it.

My 2003 did come with the 7/70 so DC should take care of it for the 100.00 deductable. I did some digging last night and found a printout I saved on the Cummins warranty. The waterpump is covered by Cummins under their 7 years 100k mile warranty. A 100.00 deductable also applies after the truck has been in service for 5 years. So it should only cost me a c note to get it done no matter who picks up the tab. It should be on DC since the truck just turned 69k miles. After 70k miles it would be on Cummins. Thanks for the replies guys.

they did mine at 30k and it was just barely seeping...not enough to drip but my coolant would be about a qt. or two low at every oil change (6-9kmi). I pointed it out and they fixed it. No Charge!! I didn't even buy my truck from them....BUT if you have a deductable, the water pumps are pretty cheap and very easy to replace....just be sure to blead the system after your done!!!

Just got mine out of the shop last night. The water pump was covered under the 7/70 DC warranty. The front axle u-joints were also replaced and covered under the 7/70 DC warranty. The only thing I had to pay for was the $100 per repair order deductible.

Question. My truck is approaching 100K miles and I haven't had any issues or been back to the dealer in ages. Since the waterpumps are relatively cheap, would it make sense to go ahead and replace it kind of as a maintenance item? I'd much rather do it at a time and place of my choosing that get stranded on a trip somewhere, if it is inevitable that they will fail at some point in that mileage range.

FWIW, I already drain and refill (not flush) my coolant every 20K with Zerez G-05 1/2 and 1/2 with distilled water. My next interval, if I keep this schedule, will be at 110K.

Thoughts?

I just changed mine with 115K on the odometer. it was still working fine but it was leaking just a little so I decided to change it. Once I got it off there i am really glad I changed when I did. Lets just say it was running on borrowed time. I used airtex and it has been fine. any other q's let me know.

Thanks, I may just go ahead and do it at 110k. Im still on my original serpentine belt too, so it may get changed at the same time. (I have a new spare in my toolbox)

Mine went out going down the highway on my way to work. Never leaked before so kind of a weird deal. No warrentee so $680.00 I had my truck back. Pump was just over $300.00 and the rest was labor at the dealer. Normally I would have changed it myself, but I did not want to risk engine damage trying to get the truck home or a tow bill.

My water pump went out on my 2003 one ton in mid-july and the dodge dealer said it was not covered by warranty and would be $325, so I called Dodge and they said the same thing, but looking on this site I found the answer. On page 10 of the warranty book section 2.3 b it shows 7 years 100,000 and after 5 years there is a $100 deductible. I told the dealer where to find the info and he asked for my vin # and said I was covered and it only cost the $100 and they changed my new spare belt at no charge and all new anti-freeze. They also sent a tow truck to take it to the dealer.

Got mine done under warranty at 99,850 miles. It was dripping enough to run onto one of the pulleys and spray a mist all over the front of the engine. For some reason they didn't charge me a deductible. Guess I got lucky?

Because they are so "relatively" cheap, that is what is making me think it might be a good idea to replace it as a maintenance item about every 100K or so. OR at a minimum, keep a spare handy. No?
