Gas in my not Gas truck!!!!
One of our guys at work filled his service truck(03 duramax) with about 40 gallons of diesel, ran about 2 minutes and killed itself. Dealership drained the tanks, changed the filter, put fresh diesel in along with a couple of qts. of ATF, fired it up and sent him on his way. Two weeks later, he did it AGAIN!!!!. Techs at the dealership LOVED all the free gasoline he kept giving them. Truck still runs fine today....atleast for a duramax.
This is why I dont let my wife put fuel in my new Cummins...

I put 8 gals of gas in my truck last year before I realized what I was doing. Pushed truck to the side and called a roll back wrecker to take it to the shop to be pumped out. Total cost including full tank of diesel was about $360. I just didn't want to take any chances.
Yeah i took the gas cap off at the dealer and could smell gas or at least something that smelled a lot like gas not diesel. but i did have the truck towed from the dealer today and taken to another diesel shop because ever one i talk to says they can't believe that there is that much damage to my truck. I should know more tomorrow.

so far no gas in truck (knock on wood) but when we go to San Felipe, Mexico I have seen about 3-4 people draining gas from their diesel's after relying on the color coded handles of the fuel station. Some of the stations down there use green for their high octane and black for the diesel. Like a previous post said i too check about 3 times before/during fill up to make sure i am not putting that wimpy gas in her.
3 words. Locking Fuel Door!!! Maybe you made an enemy somewhere down the road and dont know it. Ive heard from quite a few people when I was on the East coast that had vandals pour gas in their tractors and such. Just a thought.
Hello all I would have the gas station take a sample and prove there is no gas in it
All so I have seen alot of engines get gas and never have seen that much damage useally we can drain the tank and get fresh diesel in it and it will run rough for a while then clean up but I have seen the fuel pump damaged and even injectors but uselly that is when it has all most all gas and ran a long time Hope it all works out for you

went home, all you have to do is open the valve on the fuel filter drain,
and use a piece of PVC to point it into a 5 gallon bucket,
i pumped out 15 gallons of "mix"
refilled up with diesel, a few quarts of Oil for lubrication
never a worry
do a search, PLENTY of threads on this, most folks do what i do.
This same thing happened to a guy in my town. He filled up with the "Black Handle hose" instead of the "Green Handle hose". Turns out he caught himself before he even started the truck, so nothing was damaged. Tow truck came and got the truck and took it to the dealer. I guess everything worked out good, because I say him driving around in it just the other day!
I watched a guy fill his late model dodge with 30 gal. of gas a while back. I should have said something but it was 2500 and I thought it might be a gasser(I was in front of him). He pulled to the edge, got in his truck box and brought out some sort of a handtap. He stuck a 1/8 " drill bit in it and got under the truck. He drilled a hole in the tank and let it run into a bucket. he then transfered it into a couple of 5 gal jugs he had. I had two 5 gal. cans and he put ten galllons in mine. the store loaned him a couple of other jugs to finish draining it. He then proceded to take a self tapping screw covered with sealall and screw it into the hole he had made. He filled up with deisel and went on his way. For all I know the screw is still in there because I've seen him driving around and at a farm auction since then but didn't get around to asking him about what happened.

On the reverse side when I was a 12 year old kid in the 70's dad used to let us drive around in the back fields in an old VW bug. We were almost out of gas so we put 5 gallons of what I assumed was gas in and kept driving around scaring the cows. It started running real rough and smoking so we took it to the house. Dad came out and let me know what a dumbass I was. He then took it to the store and filled it up with premium. It never seemed any worse for the wear.(It was already pretty ragged out though).

I uh, put about 5 gallons of diesel in my Roadrunner once, back in '89. In my defense, we were in the middle of a hurricane and the wind and rain were blowing sideways when I reached for the pump. That was a pretty tense 10 mile drive home as the car would not go over 20 mph. After the storm past, I went and filled it with gas. No damage. Too bad diesels are not as forgiving.
Hope this works out in your favor in the end. It sure sounds like you did nothing wrong.
For my .02. I always fill in the big truck lanes at a truck stop. I never take the truck over to the gas islands. In this scenario, there are NO gas pumps, only Diesel pumps.... keeps me safe. Or so I hope.
