G56 temp sensor

Is there a suitable threaded hole from the factory in the G56 case to mount a temp sensor?

So far I'm planning to weld an NPT "bung" (can we say that? ) on the driver's side cover.

The case on the G56 will shed heat better than the NV, and the new manuals also hold more fluid - which is of course uses ATF+4 instead of gear oil.

I'd expect the temps to run lower than with the NV.

Can you weld beer cans?

Can I be the 3rd person to not add any useful info, but show my interest in the subject?

I did a little research into this when I got my gauges. I wanted both a diff and tranny temp but got held up on the price of the diff cover and fast coolers set ups.

Seeing as it's not something that gets changed frequently, couldn't we just use the drain hole with a reducer fitting to a compression with the transducer?
Is that a stupid question?

Join the party, PJ!

This new round of mods includes tranny & diff temp sensors.

I'm going to change out the tranny fluid for the first time as soon as I have the sending unit ready to screw in, so I'm not sure what thread the drain plug has. I don't see why you couldn't use that location though, as long as the threads were correct or adaptable. However, I bet the factory drain plug is magnetic, and I'd hate to dispense with that in favor of the temp sensor.

True.

Well,.......... have you considered the fast coolers?

What brand gauges will you be selecting?

AFAIK - the FAST coolers are only for the NV trannies... I couldn't find any listed for the G56 - anyone know?

The AutoMeters showed up yesterday; like the rest of the gauges, I run UltraLite II units unless what I want isn't available in that style - then I go to UltraLites. Of course, the rail pressure gauge, nitrous pressure gauge and water/meth pressure gauge are "take what you can get" like DiProcol, etc.

I e-maield them a while back, a woman wrote back saying they had them for the G-56, here is the response:
Yes I do. They all take the same cooler part number. It's 2fc300.

The G-56 takes a kit that includes metric bolts and 2 steel shim plates,
they are like gaskets but steel. They cover up a machined grove that
they put on the transmission, then the coolers go over that. The cost
is $189.00 plus $15.00 for the kit. Shipping is included. $204.00 is
the total.

Fast Coolers
