G56 Problems!

Well here it goes! Got into my truck today to go up town, and while rowin threw the gears, the clutch pedal sarted feeling weird, (Its real easy to push down until it almost gets to the floor, then it gets real stiff) then while shifting from 4th to 5th it feels as if the clucth is only disingaging halfway so it kind of grinds goin into 5th, go to put it in 6th same thing. Well i get to town and pull up to the stop sign and try to take off and second, and its not happening, so i had to shut the truck off and start off in second. But even when i do that the truck doesnt luge forward like it should if you started it in gear without the clutch in, it just kind of creeps like the clucth is partially pushed in but i have the clutch to the floor.

I just had the slave cylinder and master cylinder replaced 9000 miles ago so i kinda dont think its that. I dont know if its the pressure plate or the throwout bearing, anybody got any ideas?

Truck is sitting at the dealership know but im going to get it tommarow. The truck has 39000 miles on it so im just out of the 36000 mile warranty so that kinda sucks, and i know dodge is going to charge me an arm and a leg if they have to tear it apart and find out its not the slave cylinder. But i hope it is because the slave cylinder still has a 10000 mile parts warranty.

Sorry I can't help, but just curious, your sig says you have NV5600, but thread says G-56 problem. K-Man, what is difference in an 05 and 06? Man I don't blame you, I would get it away from the dealer to a good performance diesel shop.

all '06's have the g56- they went to them mid-year in '05.

Sounds like a pressure plate to me. Could be falling apart and getting jammed as the throwout bearing tries to fully push it in. Not going into gear unless engine shut off is consistent w/ failing pressure plate as well. Can you get a cover off the throwout bearing arm so you can peek inside?

Would not be covered under warranty anyway, as dealership would say that it is a maintenance item.

OK, I'm confused.

Thread says G56. OP has NV5600 in sig. OP mentions truck is just out of warranty, which "kinda sucks," but sig say he has an after market clutch. Also the sig says 05, which should have a 7/70 warranty, IIRC.

Kman9090, how would the Dodge warranty apply to an after market clutch, and how is an 05 out of warranty at 39K? Not that any warranty really covers a clutch beyond the first year.

Or were you driving your brother's truck?

Clutches are not covered in the 3/36 or 7/70. They are a 1 year/12K mile warranty item because they are considered them same thing as brakes, etc.

Sounds like the pressure plate or throw out bearing is toast. Time for a new clutch.

If you are running that crazylary program on a stock dual-mass clutch in front of the G56 then you have probably toasted the clutch. You had to have been slipping it at some point? (overheated, warped, welded) Mine slipped with the Jr on #2. A southbend fixed my problems, you might want to look in to one.

I'd bet the clutch is toast. Mine got to the point where any power over stock would make the clutch slip and the pedal would be rock hard. You would have to pump the pedal to get the clutch to release. DO NOT under any circumstances buy another factory clutch. Not only because they're junk but because the stock clutch/flywheel for the G56 is VERY expensive.
