Fuel transfer pump
Fuel transfer pump
My transfer pump crapped out on me on the interstate two months ago. Got it replaced. Since then, every fill up I can put 39-40 gal of fuel in the tank. I can't figure it out since it is a 35 gal tank. 8% of the tank's capacity is used for reserve which would be 2.8 gal. Before the change out I could only fill up around 34 gal. and that is w/ the needle on the "E" post. I am famboozled, but I am also blonde. Anyone else w/ this issue?
Sounds like you've got a mystery truck. No real explanation for you... maybe the fuel pump itself is off because I see no way to stuff that much fuel in your tank UNLESS when they replaced the pump they did the fuel tank vent mod at the same time...? I can get 37 gallons but I'm sure it'd go for more. I just don't run it down that low.
I thought the same thing about the tank vent, but they didn't do anything w/ that. Oh well, I guess I can't complain about 700 mi per tank. I just don't want to be in a situation where I need my reserve and I am using it and not knowing it.
