Fuel Pump issues on my 04 2500

I am a first timer here and need help with fuel pump issues. I was first getting the p0628 code and was led to believe this was a lift pump problem. At first I thought I had the original rail mounted pump but after crawling under the truck I had the tank mounted and replaced it with a new one. I cleaned out the tank and changed the fuel filter before filling up with fresh fuel and added 10 gal to the tank. Problem now is the truck cranks but will not run longer than about 20 sec. I also noticed I am not getting fuel to the filter bowl and i still get the p0628 code.
Can someone help me out and tell me if I am missing or doing something wrong?
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

possible relay maybe is not letting power get to the pump. did you check all the wires?

Thanks Rich I cannot find the relay that is connected to the fuel pump. When I called the dealership they told me there was not a relay that this was just a generic code used for the fuel pump. I am trying to trace the wires back to the fuse box now but no luck yet. I also opened the water bleed off valve and then turned the key on to see if fuel ran out and nothing happened so I am sure there is an electrical issue somewhere.

If you have a retro fit in tank fuel pump, you will have a relay on the drivers side tie strapped somewhere. You will then have a hot wire running to the positive side of the drivers side battery with an inline fuse. None of this will be located in the power distrobution box. You will also have the old fuel pump wiring harness connected to the this external relay. Hope this helps. Relay is a single pole, single throw relay.

By the way, the original LP was mounted to the back of the fuel filter.
