New injectors and tubes...new cp3??

Breakin down and puttin new (rebuilt) injectors and tubes in and a mechanic I was talkin to about it said that I better go ahead and put a new cp3 on at the same time. According to him, when I put new injectors and tubes on it may cause the pump to take a dump. What's ya'll opinion on that? 240,000 on 'em.
Thanks ya'll

I do not believe this to be the case at all. Really? "it may cause the pump to take a dump". If this mechanic is planning on performing the injector replacement, I recommend you find a new shop to do the work. I do;however, recommend you add additional 2 um fuel filtration under the hood in order to provide the cleanest fuel possible to the new injectors. GDP has a nice setup that is reasonable.

All in all, the cp3 is basically a mechanical pump (gear driven), aside from the electronics on the outside of the housing, so it's either going to work or it isn't. I say run the new stix and tubes and don't worry about it. About the only thing that will fail on the cp3, provided you are not taxing the fuel supply/demand, is going to be the FCA. Once that goes just go get yourself another one for about $100 or so and keep on trucking.
