Fuel pump?
Fuel pump?
Can anyone tell me if a fuelpump can cause a buzzing then a clicking sound if the key is in the start position without the motor running?
I'm getting this buzzing then clicking from the driver's side of the motor with an MIL light. It happens about 80% of the time when I go to start and it's driving me crazy.
I have no OBD2 codes that are set from this (I checked with an OBD2 scanner), and the MIL light does go off once the the motor is running.
This is on a 305/555.
Appreciate any help in getting this resolved.

Fuel pumps can and do buzz. Mine does if I keep the key on engine off for a long time.
Not to sound like a wise guy, but to resolve the dilemma - either keep the key in the acc position and not power up the pump, or start the engine (you'll never hear the pump then).

Chris,
The problem started with me hearing a chime after the motor was started.
While trying to figure out what was causing the chime, I noticed that the MIL light would stay on even after the grid heater light went off. This is now happening about 80% of the time.
With the MIL light, I get the buzzing for a a second or tow then I hear a clicking. If THe MIL light if off as it had been doing until today, I never got any buzzing or clicking.
I've got a spare fuel filter, but until I know what the problem might be I don't want to change it in case the dealer says that the problem was do to me replacing the filter.
What I don't understand is that the buzz then clicking sounds like electrical current, clicks because it's just a spark. But no matter if it buzzes then clicks or acts normal, the motor starts and runs find and I have no OBD2 codes set.
It's driving me crazy!
