When turning my key to the on position, I dont always hear my fuel pump go on, and a couple of times the pump just kept on running, until I turned the key off.

Which pump is this, injector or lift?

What do you think might be causing this to happen, bad pump or bad circuit?

 

It is the lift pump as the injection pump is mechanically driven. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? You may have a fuel filter that is plugging up and a restriction in the fuel system. It may be time to replace the filter.
