Fuel mileage UP!!
Fuel mileage UP!!
Set my predator on Extreme for last 2 tanks of fuel & have kept the right foot out of it and my fuel mileage (hand figured) has gone way up. What gives??? I know it's a good thing!

Yup, That is the best way I have found to increase the MPG. Try driving an entire tank without ever going over 2000 rpm durring take offs and maintaining around 1600 when cruising on the highway. It is VERY hard to do, and takes all the fun out of driving, but it also fun to see how high of MPG you can get.
Why does everyone say that driving at 55-60 MPH takes all of fun out of driving? Maybe if people slowed down they might just see something new. When I have to go to town its a 16 mile drive one-way, I can go fast @70 mph on the freeway or drive the state hwy and get 3 more mpg by taking the slow road. My self I take the slow road all most every time unless it would take me more driving miles to get where I need to go in town. BTW, It's called choice you can chose to drive fast and get lower mpg or drive a bit slower, get better mpg and save some money.
I didn't notice any appreciable difference in mileage driving @55 mph versus 60 on the highway, except in winter with the colder temps 55 was better. I tried it for about a month. I do notice a difference when driving 60 versus 65, with 60 giving the best mileage for me, around 1900 rpm. 65 puts me just above 2000 (as per factory tach) and starts to drink fuel.
I also try to avoid 55 becasue of the lower revs; I don't tow so I worry about getting carbon build up on my injectors. I run PS at every fill, 12-16 oz.

If you worry about carbon build up then put a load in the bed once a month and take it on a 4 hour drive to clean any off the injectors. My self I stopped using PS and now use 6oz Lucas per tank and it does a much better job on the injectors and also it does not contain any Naphtha aka lighter fluid like PS has in it.
I too switched to lucas from ps. I saw about a 2 mpg increase when I did. Which I attribute to lucas doing a superior job of cleaning injectors. Not saying ps is a bad product, just saying I think lucas is better at lubricating & cleaning. This is hand calculated & the mpg has stayed w/ or w/o additive ( at least until they get dirty again).
This was a good one.. while I was filling up an Old man pulled up in his shiny PS Furd and asked the almighty question... "what kinda mileage u gettin""
Well as the say, the first liar never stands a chance. I barked back 22. He said not bad I get 16.6.... with my trailer hooked ,that weighs in at 11,300 lbs empty. I promptly asked where his DOT numbers where???? And thought you bag of s*!! that would put you so far over your gcvwr with that trailer loaded do I look that bumkin or what??

Hey sawboywv1 - The problem with most guys, maybe especially the Furd guy, is that they do not know where the DOT lines are drawn. Probably his combined weight is 11,300 ??? But even him knowing some number doesn't mean it's a good one. Bet he has never set rubber to a scale to get the right number. Does his Ferd have an overhead fuel calculator ? Would he know how to read it ? Was his number hand calculated AND maybe that would be a questionable as his trailer weight ? Too many variables and some or all of them are too questionable. You should have said BORN-YES, YESTERDAY-NO, how 'bout you?
