Fuel mileage problem found

My fuel mpg started dropping earlier this summer for no known reason, was down to about 14.5 all the time. I usally pull a trailer about 4500 lbs so when the temp began running about 200 to 205 I thought that was normal. The other day while running empty temp went to over 200 on the highway. Outside temp was over 100 as it usally is in Texas this time of year. I found that my radiator was stopped up with grass and seeds from driving thur tall grass while hunting last fall. While going down the road on hot days the fan would engage, once I clean radiatorout engine runs below 200, a fan dos not cycle as often. Mileage is back up to about 18 mpg.
