Problem found when switching out Fuel filters.
Problem found when switching out Fuel filters.
After removing the filter, my wife (her hands were small enough to fit) found some sandy grit in the bottom of the filter housing. I guess im asking if anyone else has had this grit build up before. I am hoping this will cure my horrible mpg's. We used a non tearing paper towel that I presoaked in diesel (to make sure no lint came off) to get in there and clean it out. After starting I filled it up and put a full container of Kleen Diesel injector cleaner in. Is their anything else that i need to check now that I have found this mess?
Cool, I was hoping it wasn't too bad. This is my 4th filter change and the first ive noticed it. I hope my mpg will finally get above 16mpg. The S&B intake has gained a solid 1 mpg. My last trip (before the S&B), cruise set at 67 mph 1850 rpm,no trailer or load and I got 16.4 mpg. My 03 dually would have gotten 20-21mpg on the same trip.
