fuel line quick connect leaking

I was using someone elses thread. to try and find my answers. but i thought get more with my own. the quick connect on the back of the fuel filter canster. it is the supply line from the tank. is there an o-ring in it. or do have to replace the line. but insteed of that i will splice from the connecter the the metel line with rubber hose. not sure what is the way to go here.

If that fitting on a 2003 is the same as on a 2002 - a Dorman fitting- you can get the plastic inserts at NAPA or just about any auto parts store. Just unhook tfhe fitting, remove the plastic insert and replace it. I've had to replace a couple on mine. The one you are looking at is probably 3/8ths inch.

The connector on the line to the filter on my '03 uses an O ring. I had a very slow leak that I thought was a fitting but turned out to be the cap on the filter.

i'm going to tare in to it tomarrow. i hope it has an o ring. but if not i'm going to get rid of the quick fitting. and go with a push lock and rubber hose. this started after the dealer. was checking injectors and my lift pump. dont know what they did. but now it's up to me to fix.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, ok maybe I do, but I have a pretty hard dripping fuel leak that looks like it is coming from the front end of the fuel tank somewhere. Thought it might have been the connections on the top ofthe tank but when I took the bed off it wasnt' there. After more searching it is under the cab and looks like its along the frame rail where I can't get my hand into it. Anyone have any ideas.

The leak could be traveling down the fuel line from the filter or pump if you still have the OE fuel pump.

The fuel line on my '03 was all plastic in a plastic sleeve. I have replaced mine when I inslalled the Fass 95. I did find that 3/8 fuel line will slip over the plastic line with a snug fit. If you decide to replace a section of the plastic line for a quick and not perminant fix place a short piece of 3/16 copper tube inside the plastic so as not to crush the plastic line under the clamp.

The tank is lower than the filter and fuel will not leak more than a few drops. If the connector is lower than the tank it could siphon fuel out, but should be a slow flow.
