fuel filter
dennis, welcome to dtr!
look at the top of the filter housing, you'll see the black plastic cover. either take a large adjustable wrench, or a 3/8's drive ratchet(square hole) and loosen the cap(counterclockwise). the filter is snapped into the lid and will come out when you lift off the lid. have a bucket handy to drop in into. open the yellow handled valve to drain the remaining fuel out of the bowl, close the valve. use a lint free rag to wipe out any remaining crud. you might see some small black dirt like substance(its algae and normal) install the new filter in the lid, replace the o ring on the lid and reinstall the lid. do not overtighten, just enough to compress the o ring slightly. bump the key to start to let the pump run for a few seconds. fire it up(it may hickup a few times until the air is out) while it idles, look for leaks.

when you get the filter out. put some clean diesel fuel in the housing. I have tried just cycling the key a few times and it was hard on the truck. I just put fuel back in with the new filter and it works good for me. I normally clean on the housing also with a rag. im sure this was stated somewhere else above
