Got some seepage on my front differential. Is this fairly normal, and what's the torque settings? I was going to top it off with some Mobile 1 (75W90 I believe). Also, it's a PITA to fill the front diff.
Is there a a trick to it? Some kind of pump or funnel you use?

 

Don't know about the leak, mine hasn't yet. I use a little hand pump I picked up at Checker for $3 bucks to fill the front diff. Just screws onto the threads of the oil bottle and has a hose to stick in the fill hole. Easy, but kind of time consuming, and your hand is gonna get tired, But, it works good. As far as the cover bolts torque, I can't remember what it is, but if you do a search you should find the info you need, I remember a post about one of our members twisting of a bolt head when torqueing his cover back on. -Steve

 

Here is what I use for filling trannys and diffs. My Toyota rockcrawler has dual transfer cases and I got real tired of pumping so I came up with this and it works fine!!!

 

Level is supposed to be 1/2 to 1" below the bottom of the hole (Overfilling is rumored to cause seal failure).

Fill plug is 24 ft/lbs. Cover bolts 30 ft/lbs.

Leaking that drips isn't normal, but mine seems to seep around the fill plug just enough to show around the edge. Some thread sealant on the fill plug would probably cure that.

The rubber cover seal is reusable, and requires no silicone sealer.

 

I was under my truck today doing some science and found my rear main leaking, so is the power steering and the front diff is doing more then seeping.
might as well get it all warranteed and do the clutch at the same time.
