Front axle U-joint?

My Brother has a 2003 3500 with the left front u-jount out. He was told that it can be replaced with a special C-clamp type tool with out pulling the front hubs. (I think he's nuts)
Have any of you ever heard of this? Please advise. This truck is from back east and has alot of rust, and he expects me to help him do this repair (I told him to take it in, I'm not up for this)

Any suggestions? I think he wants free labor (me sucker)

Anyone have the part number for the 3/4 ton front axle "steering" u-joints (spicer or napa - greasable if possible).

Mine just went bad as well - *squeak squeak squeak* only when turning.

I would be interested in this process described above if it is true as well.
