found an '03 6spd have a couple ??'s

I have a line on a 2003 4wd long bed crew cab 6 spd 3;73. This truck is in Oregon, I'm in Ca. this forum taught me the HP / torque is on the drivers side valve cover and should say 305/555. The dealer says he saw the 305 but not the 555. Question is are all "03 6 spds the HO motor? or should I find another way to verify this? Question 2 ; crew cab is very long I only need a quad cab anybody have input on driving these? This truck is rated a "10" by this dealer it has 75K and we are at $25,000 does this sound reasonable? It has a clean carfax report and title, one owner. Sounds pretty good just a little scary as the most Ive ever paid for a truck is 10K. Sure appreciate some advice. Thanks

All '03's with the 6 speeds were HO's; SO's got the 5 speeds. I have two stickies on the drivers side of the valve cover, and niether one says anything about HO, or 305 or 555. One's an obligatory warning sticker about messing with the fuel system (or something) and the other has some bar codes and numbers. During my time under the hood nothing has jumped out at me saying its an HO or 305/555.

3rd Gen Dodge Ram 4 doors are all termed "quad cabs", not crew cabs. QC's are as long as you'll get in a Dodge. The guy who said its a crew cab, probably almost slipped and marked the windshield with "Hemi Diesel" too.

Can't help you on the price.

Did you take it for a spin? How did it drive?

All '03 trucks with the 6-speed are HO engines. The plate that you are referring to only states the horsepower, not the torque. If the guy sees 305 on it, then it's an HO motor.

The HP is stated on the black plastic cover on the engine, mine says Model ISB 305, that's the HP rating. I don't believe the torque # is stated anywhere, but I've been known to be wrong before.

I have a 03, QC long box, 6-Spd with 3.73, take a look at my gallery. I love this truck, I don't have any problems driving or parking, I normally park farther out where there are open spots for easier parking and less door dings. My wife also drives the truck and has no problems, she even backs it in the garage too, I've trained her well. I bought mine brand new Oct. 1, 2003 and paid $30500, plus state tax & license, this was invoice-rebate($4500). I have tracked my fuel mileage since new and have an average of 18.5MPG, low of 16.2 and a high of 21.

Hope this helps.
