I'm doing mine in two days. Transgo kit and cleaning the original solenoid.
I would not flush the trans. You see all that gunk in your pan? I don't want that flushed back in the trans, I want to drain it out.

There is a big difference between flush and exchange. An exchange is nothing more than pumping your old fluid out and new in - using the trans. pump. Do a search on how to do your own exchange. I did it and will do it again. There is "zero" chance of causing problems unless you let the tranny run dry or forget to hook the return line back up.

With the exchange do they replace the filter first and then exchange the rest of the fluid? I've always been told and taught that the filter needs to be changed at every service.......

I didn't go into the details, but yes I change my filter when doing it myself. It's cheap insurance. If I was going to a shop, I would ask them to make sure they are doing that.

Don't do that, if you run everything dry, not good. Depending on the mileage, fluid exchange= "YES", Flush = "NO".

Yes, do the exchange. Get all the old fluid out. it will run much longer.
We do fluid exchanges on all the trucks at work. and many have 200,000+(many are Gas) on original transmission.

You don't run it dry, you run it till the stream starts to change. That lets you know it is starting to get low in the pan.

The transmission and components should take 14 quarts. A dry transmission and it's components will hold 18 quarts. Pick up one or two extra just in case. Valvoline ATF+4 is a licensed brand and works for me.
