Fleetguard FS19855 or 19856?

Just finished installing fuel filter and then looked at my Cummins receipt and noticed it said Fleetguard FS19855. Shouldn't they have given me a FS19856. I thought the 19855 is a 10 micron and the 19856 is a 7 micron. Should I change this out before I start driving the truck? Thanks for any help.

I went to my local Cummins parts department with the part number FS19856 and the parts guy said they didn't have that one but it superseded to a FS19800. Does anyone know if that's correct?

The Fleetguard FS19855 filter is listed as a 10 micron unit and replaces the FS19579 which was discontinued. The Fleetguard FS19856 is a Stratapore 7 micron filter for the 03 to 07, 5.9 CTD. This filter replaces the FS19800E. You would be better off with the Stratapore. Do a search on fuel filters and you will find a great deal of information that was researched by DTR member ah64id and his findings were posted.

Shima,
I would also like to point out that member DBLR makes a good suggestion in your prior post regarding the Baldwin PF7977 (5 micron) filter as an even better option. I myself use the FS19856 only because they are stocked at my local parts house. I tried to order the Baldwin twice but the distributor shipped the wrong item each time.

Thanks, I'll look for that Baldwin PF7977 so I know where to get it next time I change the fuel filter. Any idea of chain stores that normally stock those? (O'reillys, Napa, Advance Auto, Pepboys, or Autozone?)
I guess I should've said that I bought the FS19800E, not the straight FS19800. I see there's a difference.
