Fleetguard 19579 changed?
I bought the Baldwins from Associated Diesel. http://www.adiesel.com/
Shouldn't be any problems running the Baldwin in sub freezing temps since the fuel canister has a heater.

A money saving tip on oil filters for those who buy from Geno's. Buy the LF3894 for $9.95 rather than the LF16035 for $11.95. They are exactly the same Stratopore filter. The only difference is the flutes pressed into the can's end. If you use a band filter wrench, you don't use the flutes anyway.

Guys, I have apoken to both Baldwin and Fleetguard about their fuel filters, their micron ratings and part numbers and here is what I have been told. First, and this is straight from Baldwin. The Baldwin PF7977 filter is rated at 5 microns, but they don't say whether that is a nominal rating or absolute, but they did mention that it was rated at 5 microns using the multiple pass method! The other item to be aware of is the Baldwin filter may only be a filter and not a water separator/filter, I forgot to ask about this feature.
On the other hand Fleetguard told me the original FS19579 was a 10 micron filter/water separator @98.7% efficiency rating. The FS19800E is a 7 micron filter/water separator rated @ 98.7% efficiency. The latest filter part number is the FS19856 and is a 5 micron filter/water separator rated @ 95% efficiency and has gasket material that is compatible with Biodeisel. I hope this clears up some of the confusion............Lektrikman

The last filters I got were right after the Fleetguard number change and they are shrink wrapped. The Cummins parts guy said the difference was in the o-ring material; they changed it for the ULSD
The LF3349 is NOT a Stratopore filter. It's listed as Standard filter for 89 to 98 V12 Cummins diesel. So, to answer your basic question, no, it's not "good ones". The good ones are the Stratopore filters. Those are LF16035 (with fluted can) or LF3894 (plain can). I use the LF3894.

I don't even know if the 3349 will physiclly fit the '04. Whether you use 'em or not is soley your decision.

Another bummer about the "E" filters is, they won't work with Genos billet fuel filter cover. I was told by the Cummins parts guy that the new filters were an environmentally friendly filter when I ordered mine over the phone a while back. Funny thing was, he couldn't really define what environmentally friendly meant.
