I have run a bunch including the VA3.2 and TST. My oil is black as early as 3.5k.
I took a couple of oil tests up to the 7.5k interval I run now...dino oil ussually delo 400 or valvoline blue...and have had no issues.

A question for the oil experts out there....what technically is the black? Ash?

The bottom line with me...I have a alot of HP, good milage IMHO for my driving style, no signs of warning from oil tests, don't burn any oil, etc with out any increased maintence costs. Now...it would be nice to figure out how to get a grasp on all of the other fluids maintence cost!

Also...I am not overfueled.

I have enough air to keep smoke to OEM levels.

The black is soot, and it is no indication of oil quality, as you've seen with your analyses. In comparison to your modded truck which is still very impressive in that it stays clean up to 3500miles, it seems the 600's blacken the oil stock in 50 miles. I wonder if a 600 with injectors and a box will start having to watch soot as a determining factor in oil analysis reports. At this point most 3rd gen Dodges I've seen have so little soot that other factors like TBN and wear metals become your limiting factors as far as oil drain intervals go.

When I had an injector issue and my truck was missing and smoking quite a bit my oil turned black pretty fast. Now that I've gotten it running better it is staying clean. This change is at 2000 miles and still very clear on the dipstick. I'm not running that much fuel though. Have nearly 372,000 miles.

After an oil change it will be black as tar almost imediatly. I dont think it stays clean loking for more than a few miles.

i have heard this also. i just checked my oil though and it is still relatively clear after 2200 miles since the oil change.

oh well... guess i should be happy.
