First mileage test with Smarty Jr

I had my first real test for mileage after installing my Smarty Jr. My settings are

SW3
TQ2
TM4
POD 75

I drove from El Paso to Albuquerque and back. I had the cruise set at 72 and verified by GPS the whole way. There was a head wind for about the last 175 miles there and very little wind on the way back. It was about 70% flat driving and 30% hills with several big long hills. I did some in town driving and did have to jump on it a few times in Albuquerque to get into the correct lane and not miss the exit. (at least that's what I told the wife ) In total, I drove 622 miles and used 31.4 gallons which equals 19.8 MPG. I filled up to where I could see fuel in the filler neck both times. I was very happy since I am running the SW3 program. I wonder what the mileage setting would have gotten?

You boys have very similar trucks to mine but that is better mileage than I generally see in stock form.

What were you getting for mileage before the Smarty install? What was the increase?

I was a pretty solid 17-18 with a mixed driving of 80% Hwy to 20% city

I am going to try the Economy tune next and see what happens.

I am usually in the 18.5 to 19.5 every tank. I have never hit 20mpg in 90k though. One of these days.

My stock overhead would read 23 mpg, but when I hand calc it I was getting more like 19.5

After I installed my Smarty Jr, my over head dropped to 21ish. I hope once I hand calc it, the drop was because it is reading more accuratly now then in stock mode. Cause that would suck to loose mpg after going to economy.

100hp tune on the Jr should get you the best mileage if you drive sensibly.

How is that? Would it be the timing?

For the silencer ring you can look here
https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...light=silencer

The airbox mod is really nothing more than cutting a 4" hole in the bottom to get more air in to it. Some run a pipe from the hole and down, to try to catch the cooler air. I have not done that to mine.

Sorry, repeating Bob Wagner's infamous wisdom.

Mine seems to get the best mileage on 100HP tune, but if you push hard on the noise pedal it drops quick.
