Filtration Question

I have right at 8000 miles on my '04, and I changed the fuel filter at 7500 miles with the filter looking only slightly discolored. However, with all the injector problems I've read about on the '04.5s and all the problems on the Dmax, I've begun considering extra filtration in the form of an Airdog.

I'd like to gather comments about your opinion on the need for extra filtration. Should I add improved filters and go with something like the Airdog with the 2 micron filters or just leave well enough alone and continue to use an additive for the lubricity? Either way, I'll continue to use Stanadyne PF.

you dont need anymore filtration, just be clean when your servicing the filter, if you do add anything to that system , just make sure that the inlet restriction to your lift pump is not greater than 6 in/hg at full power and load.

I cleaned the filter housing and cover, in additon to the cable and wires above the filter. But it did bother me that dirt smaller than can be seen, but may still cause damage with the next stop being the CP#, could drop into housing, and more importantly the standpipe without being noticed. I'm sure there was dirt left imbedded in the firewall insulation.

I wish the filter housing was not located under the cowl and was easier to clean.

i agree, what i do is use a pair of those locking"Hemostats(sp)" with a clean paper towel. I wipe her down real good. But yes, yo have to be carefull not to let any debris fall in there when the cover is off.
